Julian Vera posted a new career-low in walks on Wednesday. He did his part (and then some), not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched for the 'W'. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Vera's effort led Valley Stream Central over West Hempstead and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
