Baseball Recap: Lawndale Takes a Loss

Lawndale entered their contest against Wiseburn- Da Vinci on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Lawndale Cardinals fell 7-4 to the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wolves from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Alejandro Zepeda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Seth Alex Rodriguez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Blake Maldonado, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Lawndale and nudges their season record down to 5-2. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.

Lawndale has already played their next matchup, a 5-0 win against Hawthorne on the 11th. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-4 victory against North on the 8th.
