Basketball Recap: O'connor's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Wednesday

After losing to Pinnacle the last time they met, O'Connor decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The O'Connor Eagles came out on top against the Pinnacle Pioneers by a score of 69-59 on Wednesday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Pioneers are ranked 80th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pinnacle's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Nelson, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 14 points. Kareem Alkhalifa was another key player, going 6 for 10 en route to 17 points.

O'Connor has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Pinnacle, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

O'Connor has already played their next contest (against Valley Vista), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pinnacle has already played their next game, an 88-74 win against Mountain Ridge on the 24th.
