Football Recap: Penn Hills Comes Up Short

After flying high against Shaler Area last Saturday, Penn Hills came back down to earth. The Indians took a blow against the Pine-Richland Rams on Friday, falling 63-19. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Rams are ranked tenth).

It was another big night for AARON STRADER, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 98 yards and a pair of TDs for Pine-Richland. Those two rushing touchdowns gave STRADER a new career-high. KHALIL TAYLOR was STRADER's top target, picking up 25 receiving yards and two scores.

Penn Hills' defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-5. As for Pine-Richland, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Penn Hills will challenge Mt. Lebanon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pine-Richland, they will square off against Greater Latrobe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
