Football Recap: West Wilkes Blackhawks vs. East Surry Cardinals
Friday just wasn't the day for West Wilkes's offense. They were dealt a 49-0 defeat at the hands of the East Surry Cardinals on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 39 points in the game before, the Blackhawks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Luke Bruner went supernova for East Surry, throwing for 106 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 66 yards on only five carries. Stephen Keener also helped with two touchdowns in total.
West Wilkes' loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for East Surry, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
