Basketball Game Preview: Parowan Rams vs. Carbon Dinos

The Parowan Rams and the Carbon Dinos will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Carbon is facing Parowan at the wrong time: Parowan suffered their first home loss of the season last Friday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell 47-36 to the Cowboys. The matchup marked the Rams' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Carbon can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 61-51 win over Panguitch. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Dinos' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Bobcats are ranked 21st).

Parowan better keep an eye on Cannon Mortensen. He was instrumental in Carbon's win, putting up 22 points. The dominant performance also gave Mortensen a new career-high in assists (four). Evan Lancaster was another key player, posting 11 points and four steals.

Carbon's win bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Parowan, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-8.

Parowan couldn't quite finish off Carbon when the teams last played back in December of 2018 and fell 64-62. Thankfully for Parowan, Derek Hillam (who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 14 boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
