Softball Game Preview: Mercy Jaguars vs. Niceville Eagles

The Mercy Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the Niceville Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mercy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Mercy's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Holland.

The result came thanks to Olivia Colebank's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Allie Streble was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Ava Reinhart also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Niceville's offense. They fell 3-0 to Tate on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Niceville's loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-4. As for Mercy, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Mercy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Niceville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
