Baseball Recap: Fairbanks Comes Up Short

Fairbanks had lost three straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 7-12 to make it four. They came up short against the West Liberty-Salem Tigers, falling 10-0. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Tigers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for West Liberty-Salem, their record is now 11-5. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

For West Liberty-Salem's part, Isaiah Reames made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Reames has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jeremiah Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Reese Oder, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While Fairbanks had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
