Baseball Recap: Streator Victorious

Streator won the last time they faced Newark and things went their way on Saturday too. Streator came out on top against Newark by a score of 12-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Joe Hoekstra made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hoekstra was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Tristian Finley was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Isiah Weibel, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Streator's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Newark, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Streator will challenge Herscher at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Herscher's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Streator's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Newark, they will take on Hiawatha at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be Newark's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
