Softball Recap: Davenport Gets the Win

Davenport gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against the Wimberley Texans by a score of 7-2. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Texans: they've now won five in a row.

Harper Mcquade spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits.

On the hitting side, Ashlynn Kennedy and JORDYN Altmeyer did most of the damage at the plate: Kennedy scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Altmeyer went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Abbi Brandes, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Davenport lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in four consecutive matches.

Davenport's victory bumped their record up to 15-6-1. As for Wimberley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Davenport is set to take on their familiar foe Navarro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Wimberley will square off against rival Canyon Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
