Baseball Game Preview: Hayes Pacers vs. New Albany Eagles

The Hayes Pacers are taking a road trip to face off against the New Albany Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hayes will be strutting in after a victory while New Albany will be coming in after a loss.

Hayes is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since May 7, 2024 on Wednesday. They skirted past Big Walnut 3-2.

Meanwhile, New Albany didn't have quite enough to beat Grove City on Wednesday and fell 7-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Greyhounds: they've now lost seven in a row.

Hayes' victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for New Albany, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Hayes skirted past New Albany 6-5 when the teams last played back in April of 2016. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pacers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
