Basketball Recap: Meridian Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Chase Schafer and Beau Bartels

Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 52-29 to Silver Lake. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Silver Lake this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-27 last Friday.

Meridian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Beau Bartels, who posted nine points, and Chase Schafer, who had eight points. The dominant performance gave Bartels a new career-high in points.

Leading Silver Lake to victory were Landon Duester and Lane Conway. Duester went 6-for-11 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds, while Conway shot 46% from the field en route to 13 points and five boards. Duester is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 55% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Beau Bonifas, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 12 points.

Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Silver Lake, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-6.

Meridian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Silver Lake, they have already played their next game, a 56-40 victory against Lawrence-Nelson on the 27th.
