Softball Game Preview: Southern Guilford Storm vs. Eastern Guilford Wildcats

The Southern Guilford Storm will challenge the Eastern Guilford Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Southern Guilford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.

Last Friday, Southern Guilford made easy work of Atkins and carried off a 12-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Storm in their matchups with the Camels: they've now won eight in a row.

Kenly Brown made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Brown was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, Kylie Misenhiemer was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Cathlin Ksor, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Southern Guilford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Atkins only posted an OBP of .333.

Meanwhile, Eastern Guilford lost 15-5 to Southeast Guilford on Wednesday. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Hayley Scott made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Eastern Guilford's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Southern Guilford, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Everything went Southern Guilford's way against Eastern Guilford when the teams last played back in March, as Southern Guilford made off with an 11-1 victory. Do the Storm have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
