Baseball Recap: Casa Grande's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

While Casa Grande didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-16-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 15-11 victory over the McClintock Chargers on Monday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this contest were averaging 3.75 runs allowed.

Nehemiah Valenzuela made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. Valenzuela was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Cole Rice and Max Baca did most of the damage at the plate: Rice got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, while Baca scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Rogan Hanson was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Casa Grande was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win (which was Casa Grande's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8 runs. As for McClintock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.

Coincidentally, Casa Grande and McClintock will both be playing Mesa the next time they take the field. Casa Grande will head out to face Mesa at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, while McClintock will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
