Basketball Recap: Mikayla Perman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Dayspring Christian Academy over Flatirons Academy

Dayspring Christian Academy suffered their closest defeat since December 21, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Flatirons Academy Bison by a score of 29-27. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Bison: they've now lost five in a row.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mikayla Perman, who posted six points and four steals. Those four steals gave Perman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyten Reese, who put up five points along with nine rebounds and five steals.

Flatirons Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Annabelle Rakers led the charge by putting up ten points and four steals. Rakers has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Claire Friedman, who earned eight points.

Dayspring Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Flatirons Academy, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Dayspring Christian Academy will welcome Gilpin County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Gilpin County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Flatirons Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-3 win against Clear Creek on the 6th.
