Volleyball Preview: Tri-Valley Bulldogs vs. Pine Grove Cardinals
Tri-Valley has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will welcome the Pine Grove Cardinals at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Tri-Valley heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to Pottsville. The Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.
The final score came out to 25-14, 21-25, 25-6, 25-14.
Despite the loss, Tri-Valley saw an underclassman step up: Kirra Klinger had 31 digs. Those 31 digs set a new season-high mark for Klinger. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Bruso, who had 13 digs.
Meanwhile, Pine Grove didn't have quite enough to beat Lehighton on Tuesday and fell 3-2. While the Cardinals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Indians 25-23 in the first set.
Pine Grove took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-19, 11-25, 25-17, 15-11.
Tri-Valley's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 27-5-1. As for Pine Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
