Basketball Recap: Patrick County Comes Up Short

Patrick County's tournament run continued when they took on Liberty on Saturday. The Patrick County Cougars were dealt a 64-30 loss at the hands of the Liberty Minutemen. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Minutemen are ranked 53rd).

Shania Brown continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Liberty, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 22 boards. The match was Brown's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Moriah Tate, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Patrick County and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Liberty, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Patrick County will host North Stokes at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Liberty, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Jefferson Forest at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. Liberty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63 points per game this season.
