Basketball Recap: Lexington Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

Lexington won the last time they faced Chapin and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Lexington Wildcats came out on top against the Chapin Eagles by a score of 52-42. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Eagles are ranked 78th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lexington got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sydni Anderson out in front who posted ten points along with seven boards and five steals. Those five steals gave Anderson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Saville, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Chapin lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ava Love, who put up nine points. Reagan Haggard was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Lexington's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Chapin, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Lexington will head out to square off against Dutch Fork at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dutch Fork will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Lexington surely won't give up without a fight. As for Chapin, they will welcome River Bluff at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Chapin is facing River Bluff at the right time seeing as River Bluff is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
