Basketball Recap: Boerne-Champion Takes a Loss

After flying high against Southwest Legacy last Saturday, Boerne-Champion came back down to earth. The Boerne-Champion Chargers came up short against the Wagner Thunderbirds on Tuesday, falling 58-38. The defeat continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now lost seven in a row.

Wagner's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nia Mcbride led the charge by going 8 for 16 on her way to 20 points. That's the most points Mcbride has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of La Sneed, who posted nine points in addition to eight assists and seven steals.

Boerne-Champion's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Wagner, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.

Boerne-Champion wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-49 defeat against Tivy on the 3rd. Wagner has also already played their next contest, a 79-21 win against Alamo Heights on the 3rd.
