Basketball Recap: Riverdale Chieftains vs. River Valley Blackhawks
The Riverdale Chieftains's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 73-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of River Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead River Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lexi Deviney, who scored 25 points along with two steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Deviney scored 15 or more points. Karina Osborn was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Riverdale's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-14. As for River Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-13.
Riverdale will head out on the road to face off against the Cubans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cuba City will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for River Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Prairie du Chien's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
