Baseball Recap: Armwood Falls to Alonso in First Game of Season

Armwood unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 7-1 to the Alonso Ravens on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 9-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2021.

Zalen Hicks was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Armwood saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Theodric Hicks, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Coming up, Armwood is taking a road trip to challenge Steinbrenner at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alonso, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Bloomingdale at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
