Softball Recap: Brillion Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Brillion won the last time they faced Chilton and things went their way on Friday too. The Lions had just enough and edged out the Tigers 8-7. The game was the first time the Lions have beaten the Tigers on their field since May 21, 2021.

Brillion let Malia Piepenburg and Kennadie Ott run wild. Piepenburg went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Ott went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Jana O'Connell was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Brillion kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.

Brillion pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Chilton, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brillion will take on Southern Door at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Chilton, they will challenge Kewaunee at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
