Baseball Game Preview: Eupora Eagles vs. Bruce Trojans

The Eupora Eagles will challenge the Bruce Trojans at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Eupora's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last seven contests.

On Friday, Eupora got the win against Philadelphia by a conclusive 11-1. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

Eupora's win was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Stroup, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Bruce hadn't done well against South Pontotoc recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Cougars.

Cole Clark and Sutton Gore made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Clark tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Gore tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Clark scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Gore scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Gore has posted since back in March of 2024.

Eupora's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bruce, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.

Eupora took their victory against Bruce when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
