Basketball Recap: Avon Grove Charter Wolves vs. Providence Christian Academy Griffins
After a string of three wins, the Avon Grove Charter Wolves's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Providence Christian Academy by a score of 58-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Avon Grove Charter's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xavier London, who scored 22 points along with two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamran Masih, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Bryce Unruh continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Providence Christian Academy, scoring 16 points along with seven assists and six steals. Unruh is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least four every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Sam Keller, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Avon Grove Charter now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Providence Christian Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avon Grove Charter will face off against the at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Harford Christian is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. As for Providence Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge the Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Tri-State Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten games.
