Volleyball Recap: GRACE Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Olivia Campbell and Izzy West

GRACE Christian kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Asheville Christian Academy Lions. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Despite the defeat, GRACE Christian had strong showings from Izzy West, who had seven assists and six digs, and Olivia Campbell, who had five kills, five digs, and three aces. Campbell is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last six games she's played dating back to last season.

Leading Asheville Christian Academy to victory were Caroline Simpson and Rachel Bass. Simpson had 18 assists and three aces, while Bass had ten digs. Those three aces gave Simpson a new career-high.

GRACE Christian has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Coastal Christian on the 8th. As for Asheville Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against Calvary Day School on the 8th.
