Volleyball Recap: Varina Comes Up Short on the Road Against Matoaca

Varina had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the Matoaca Warriors, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The victory got Matoaca back to even at 1-1.

Varina and Matoaca will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time the Blue Devils see the court they'll take on Colonial Heights at 7:15 p.m. on September 8. As for Matoaca, their break will end when they face Thomas Dale at 7:15 p.m. on September 11.
