Basketball Recap: Calhan Takes a Loss

Calhan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. The contest between them and the Burlington Cougars didn't end well, with the Calhan Bulldogs falling 67-52. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 73-58 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Calhan lost, don't look at Patrick Glaser. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 31 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 59.6% of Calhan's points, marking the 11th time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Joey Mast, who earned three points and 11 boards.

Burlington found their leader in sophomore Weston Schaal, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 19 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schaal has scored all season. Rowdy Humrich was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points.

Calhan's record now sits at 3-8. As for Burlington, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-6.

Calhan has already played their next game, a 50-47 defeat against Rocky Ford on the 31st. As for Burlington, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 68-50 win against Flagler on the 31st.
