It was a good run, but Hampton unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the West Greene Buffaloes by a score of 6-5. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Buffaloes earlier this season, when they won 7-6.

Lauren Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Maleah Scalf was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

Hampton's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-6. As for West Greene, their record now sits at an identical 5-6.

Coming up, Hampton will square off against Unaka at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs are facing the Rangers at the right time seeing as the Rangers are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for West Greene, they will challenge North Greene at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
