Softball Game Preview: Minico Spartans vs. Burley Bobcats

Minico is 2-8 against Burley since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Spartans will head out to take on the Bobcats at 3:00 p.m. Minico has given up an average of 11.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Minico is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game on Friday. They fell 16-11 to Jerome. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Akiely Gomez and Jaylie Timmons did some serious damage despite the final result: Gomez scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Timmons scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Addie Poole also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Burley and Twin Falls, and Twin Falls kept the tradition alive. The Bobcats came up short against the Bruins on Thursday, falling 11-1. The loss continues a trend for the Bobcats in their meetings with the Bruins: they've now lost five in a row.

Minico's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Burley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Minico suffered a grim 21-14 defeat to Burley when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
