Moeller Basketball Coach Carl Kremer Wins No. 700

Crusaders coach becomes seventh boys basketball coach in Ohio history to reach 700-win plateau.

Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati) basketball coach Carl Kremer became the seventh boys coach in Ohio history to win 700 games on Wednesday when the Crusaders beat host Covington Catholic (Park Hills, Ky.) 62-49.

Kremer’s career record is 700-184 in 41 years. In his 35 seasons at Moeller, Kremer’s teams have claimed five OHSAA Division I state titles (2019, 2018, 2007, 2003 and 1999). He is a member of the Ohio High School Basketball Association Hall of Fame, Moeller Hall of Fame, Cincinnati Basketball Hall of Fame and Hamilton County Basketball Hall of Fame.

The Crusaders (17-5) open postseason play Feb. 26 against Sycamore (Cincinnati) (9-12) in a Division I district semifinal at 7:30 p.m.

Richard Kortokrax – who spent time at Kalida (Ohio), Ottoville (Ohio) and Fort Jennings (Ohio) – is Ohio’s all-time leader in career wins with 890. Archbishop Alter (Kettering, Ohio) legend Joe Petrocelli ranks second (831).
