Softball Game Preview: River Ridge/Scales Mound Wildcats vs. Galena Pirates

For the second straight game, River Ridge/Scales Mound will face off against Galena. The Wildcats will host the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. River Ridge/Scales Mound's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three games, but Thursday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.

River Ridge/Scales Mound fell victim to Galena and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Pirates, falling 7-0. The shutout was out of character for the Wildcats seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

River Ridge/Scales Mound saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laiken Haas, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Galena has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.
