Basketball Recap: Immaculata-La Salle Takes a Loss

After flying high against David Posnack Jewish Day on Monday, Immaculata-La Salle came back down to earth. The Royal Lions were beaten by the Dade Christian Warriors 85-58 on Wednesday. The Royal Lions have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Immaculata-La Salle's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayquan Freeman, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. Andres Ledon was another key player, putting up 11 points and five assists.

Leading Dade Christian to victory were Gabriel Alonso and Nikola Mirkovic. Alonso posted 25 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Mirkovic put up 18 points and six boards. Those 25 points gave Alonso a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Herrera, who scored ten points and four steals.

Immaculata-La Salle's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coincidentally, Immaculata-La Salle and Dade Christian will both be playing Southwest the next time they take the court. The Warriors will head out to face the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Royal Lions will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
