Soccer Game Preview: Roosevelt vs. South Gate

The Roosevelt Rough Riders will head out on the road to challenge the South Gate Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

South Gate will have to contend with a Roosevelt team hungry for a victory, something the squad hasn't seen since January 17. Roosevelt and Garfield finished up their matchup with a 2-2 draw on Friday.

Diego Carmona and Christopher Salas scored both of Roosevelt's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Meanwhile, South Gate waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Jaguars. The win was all the more spectacular given the Rams' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while the Jaguars are ranked 64th).

South Gate's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5-3. Roosevelt's draw makes their record 4-11-4 this season.

Roosevelt came up short against South Gate in their previous meeting last Friday, falling 2-0. Can Roosevelt avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
