Dawson's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Rice 2-1. The victory was some much needed relief for Dawson as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

If you add up the scores from across all three sets (63-62) Dawson actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 20-25, 16-14.

Maebry Feller paced Dawson's offense, picking up eight kills. Feller got some help from Chloe Riley and her 12 assists.

Dawson's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Rice, they moved to 6-6 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Dawson will be playing in front of their home fans against Abbott at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rice, they have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Penelope on the 21st.
