Baseball Game Preview: Metamora Redbirds vs. Limestone Rockets

The Metamora Redbirds will head out on the road to face off against the Limestone Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Metamora took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Lincoln, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Redbirds skirted past the Railsplitters 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Redbirds.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Limestone, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Alleman by a score of 11-7 on Friday.

Alec Williams was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Evan Daxenbichler, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Limestone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alleman only posted an OBP of .371.

Metamora's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-13. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Limestone, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.

Metamora couldn't quite finish off Limestone in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Redbirds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
