Baseball Recap: Five Straight Road Wins for Maryvale

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Maryvale ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the Iroquois Redhawks 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Flyers have posted since April 18th.

Dominic Daly made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Daly was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxsyn Moritz, who went 4-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Maryvale pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Iroquois, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3.

Maryvale will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Redhawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
