Basketball Recap: New Athens Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lebanon

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Athens). They claimed a resounding 97-59 win over the Lebanon Greyhounds. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 58-36.

Despite the loss, Lebanon still got an impressive performance from Nicholas Burger, who went 9-for-16 en route to 22 points and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Burger a new career-high in shooting accuracy (56%). Another player making a difference was Deion Washington, who went 7-for-17 on his way to 17 points.

New Athens has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points over those games. Lebanon's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-21.

New Athens didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-56 loss against Carlyle on the 15th. As for Lebanon, they have also already played their next match, a 59-50 defeat against First Baptist Academy on the 17th.
