Recap: Gilbert Christian Knights vs. Valley Christian Trojans
The Gilbert Christian Knights pushed their score all the way to 68 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Valley Christian at home by a decisive 82-68 margin. Gilbert Christian has struggled against Valley Christian recently, as their match on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Gilbert Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Keon Talgo, who scored 23 points along with five assists and two steals. Talgo hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lopemi. Omole, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.
It was another big night for Luke Shaw, who scored 29 points along with seven assists and six rebounds for Valley Christian. Shaw is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last ten games he's played. Carson Grier was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Gilbert Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Valley Christian, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with that win, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gilbert Christian will take on Coolidge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Coolidge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Friday. As for Valley Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against American Leadership Academy - Anthem South at 7:00 p.m. American Leadership Academy - Anthem South will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Valley Christian is ranked tenth).
