Basketball Game Preview: Amplus Academy Archers vs. Cristo Rey St. Viator Royals

Amplus Academy is 0-4 against Cristo Rey St. Viator since January of 2022 but things could change on Monday. The Amplus Academy Archers will challenge the Cristo Rey St. Viator Royals at 6:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-16, which was the final score in Amplus Academy's tilt against Legacy on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Archers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Longhorns are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Cristo Rey St. Viator was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 70-20 defeat at the hands of Moapa Valley. The Royals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-10.

Cristo Rey St. Viator's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Amplus Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-11.

Amplus Academy came up short against Cristo Rey St. Viator in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 28-24. Can Amplus Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
