Softball Game Preview: Roosevelt Teddies vs. Kennedy Eagles

The Roosevelt Teddies will head out on the road to take on the Kennedy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Roosevelt can't be too happy about their upcoming road matchup considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Tuesday. They took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Robbinsdale Cooper.

Brooklyn Erickson and Sydney Erickson did some serious damage despite the final result: Brooklyn scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Sydney scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Mary Luhmann was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Kennedy took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Richfield. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won three in a row.

Emma Skibbie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Audrey Skibbie, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Jami Perlick, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Roosevelt might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Kennedy in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Teddies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
