Softball Recap: Matoaca Extends Winning Streak to Four

Matoaca waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Prince George Royals as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kaylee Hodges was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abby Davis, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Savannah Wright, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Matoaca always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prince George only posted an OBP of .062.

Matoaca's record now sits at 9-2. As for Prince George, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Matoaca will venture away from home to take on Glen Allen at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Prince George, they will face off against Hopewell at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
