Basketball Game Preview: McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers vs. Bryan County Redskins

The McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers will venture away from home to square off against the Bryan County Redskins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McIntosh County Academy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Bears are ranked 486th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

One of the most notable came from Mj Quarterman, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Quarterman has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Fortune Hicks, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, Bryan County beat Claxton 67-57 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redskins.

Bryan County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for McIntosh County Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Everything came up roses for McIntosh County Academy against Bryan County in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 90-27 win. In that game, McIntosh County Academy amassed a halftime lead of 35-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
