Softball Recap: Mountain Ridge Falls Short Against Ranked Queen Creek

Mountain Ridge faced Queen Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Mountain Lions came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 21-4. The loss continues a trend for the Mountain Lions in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Mountain Ridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gianna Torres, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Mountain Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Queen Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Mountain Ridge will take on Boulder Creek at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Jaguars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Mountain Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Queen Creek, they will welcome Williams Field at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Black Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.27 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
