            Soccer Preview: Mater Dei vs. Breese Central        
        
		
        
        
            The Mater Dei Knights will venture away from home to  square off against the Breese Central Cougars  at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. Mater Dei's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.
Mater Dei managed to keep up with Highland until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Knights came up short against  the Bulldogs, falling  3-0.
 Mater Dei was without their leading scorer,  Amelia Beer, in Wednesday's   matchup. With  Beer sitting this one out,  Lydia Helmkamp got some extra time on the pitch (80 vs. her season average of 53).
Meanwhile,  winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Breese Central). They blew past East Alton-Wood River 8-0 on Thursday. Breese Central haven't had any issues with East Alton-Wood River recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive  win against them.
Breese Central's offense was hitting East Alton-Wood River from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal.  Alyse Morris led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for four goals all by herself.
 Mater Dei's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Breese Central, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
 Mater Dei took their  win against Breese Central  in their previous meeting  back in March by a conclusive  3-0 score. Do  the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
