Baseball Game Preview: Winthrop Ramblers vs. Dirigo Cougars

Winthrop has gone 7-2 against Dirigo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Ramblers will challenge the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

On Friday, Winthrop didn't have quite enough to beat Old Orchard Beach and fell 7-6.

Meanwhile, Dirigo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Gray-New Gloucester.

Dirigo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Crosby, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Crosby is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Winthrop's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Dirigo, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Winthrop couldn't quite get it done against Dirigo in their previous meeting back in June of 2025 as they fell 6-3. Can the Ramblers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
