Softball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 10-7 to the West Branch Bears. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Bears from their previous meeting back in June of 2025.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for West Branch, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Monticello will challenge Camanche at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.29 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. West Branch has already played their next matchup (against Tipton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
