Softball Game Preview: River Falls Wildcats vs. Eau Claire North Huskies

The River Falls Wildcats will face off against the Eau Claire North Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. River Falls has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

River Falls came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 14-2 to Somerset. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

MORGAN KIVEL made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. ALEXIS RALSTON also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eau Claire North). They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over Wausau East on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Huskies considering their one-run performance the game before.

Abbi Kosterman was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Taylor Presler, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Eau Claire North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Eau Claire North's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6. As for River Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

River Falls might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Eau Claire North in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
