Basketball Recap: Rock Falls Takes a Loss

Rock Falls was the 47-44 winner over Bloomington Central Catholic when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Rock Falls Rockets were beaten by the Bloomington Central Catholic Saints 60-31 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 558th, while the Saints are ranked 83rd).

Ashley Rodriguez and Elizabeth Lombardo certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Rodriguez posted nine points, while Lombardo had three points.

Emme Hurie was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten boards for Bloomington Central Catholic. Bloomington Central Catholic is 7-1 when Hurie posts ten or more boards, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Karissa Cook, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 11 points and five steals.

Rock Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Bloomington Central Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Rock Falls didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-26 loss against Lutheran on the 27th. As for Bloomington Central Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-46 win against Sherrard on the 27th.
