Baseball Recap: Newbury Park Finds Home Field Redemption Against Thousand Oaks

There's no place like home for Newbury Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Thousand Oaks Lancers 4-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Newbury Park got a great performance from Davis Trudeau as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Trudeau also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Panthers are 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-9 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alan Espinal, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Nathaniel Nunez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Newbury Park's record is now 8-10. As for Thousand Oaks, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-10.

Newbury Park will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lancers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
