Baseball Recap: Glenwood City Takes a Loss

Glenwood City couldn't beat Boyceville on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Hilltoppers came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 14-7. The Hilltoppers have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Jacob Hager put in work no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Brock Wood was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Andrew Blaser was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Glenwood City's record is now 4-9. As for Boyceville, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Boyceville beat Glenwood City by a score of 9-1 later that day.
